One thing that’s always puzzled me is how so many smart business people miss the biggest opportunity to grow their business, by not investing properly in their website and a regular plan to bring in more enquiries.
It’s not rocket science. (And to be honest, I’ve never thought rocket science was that complex, put some fuel in a tube and light it… it’s bound to land somewhere, right? 😄)
Joking aside, your website is one of the hardest-working assets you’ve got.
Done right, it lines up the kind of people you want to speak to, then brings them to your door.
Your sales team? All they have to do is close the deal.
Here’s how I explain it when I’m speaking with clients:
Start with an Audit – This tells you where your website is positioned right now and how far ahead your competitors are. No assumptions, just facts.
Check Your Keywords – What are you currently ranking for? Are those the terms real customers are using? Are your competitors beating you with better keywords, or just more of them?
Analyse the Market – You need to see what’s actually working out there. Which pages are driving traffic? Which questions are your competitors answering that you’re not?
Build Content That Works – Use what you learn to plan better pages. Target the right services. Mention the right locations. Answer the right questions.
Track. Improve. Repeat. – This isn’t a one-and-done. It’s a process of layering smart content and gaining ground month by month.
I’ve worked in this field for 28 years. I’ve seen fads come and go, but the businesses that consistently grow online do one thing well: they treat their website like a lead machine, not a brochure.
