The Thing I Still Don’t Get…

The Thing I Still Don’t Get…

I’ve worked with businesses for nearly three decades.
Built websites.
Launched marketing campaigns.
Helped companies go from invisible to industry leaders.

And yet — there’s something I still don’t get.

Why don’t more businesses know what their website is actually for?

I’m talking about smart, successful, driven people.
People who know their numbers.
People who’ve built teams, processes, legacies.

But when it comes to their business website?

They’re lost.

And it’s not their fault.

Because somewhere along the way, business websites got branded as digital brochures.
A place to list services.
Show a few team photos.
Tick the “we’re online” box.

But that’s not what a website is for.

A website is your 24/7 sales machine.
Your digital front door.
Your lead magnet.

It should work as hard as you do.
Attracting leads.
Qualifying interest.
Guiding visitors toward one clear goal: engagement, enquiry or purchase.

Instead, I see sites that:
– Take ages to load
– Are invisible to Google
–  Look good but don’t convert

And these aren’t small companies either.
They’re established businesses — with great teams and products.

But their website?
It’s just… there.

Doing nothing.

And here’s the maddening part — most of them don’t even know it and won’t talk to a digital agency to have their site audited.

They think websites are just online placeholders.
That traffic happens automatically.
That visitors magically turn into customers.

And when I ask, “Do you track your site’s performance?”

They look at me like I’ve asked for their Wi-Fi password from 2007.

The truth?
If you don’t know how your website is performing, you don’t know what you’re missing.

I’m not here to sell.
Just to say:

If you’ve invested years into your business, but your website feels like a mystery box — maybe it’s time to ask yourself:

“What’s this website really here for?”

Because the businesses who figure that out are the ones who stay visible.
The ones who keep growing.
The ones who don’t just survive online — they dominate.

What’s your website doing for you right now?

Actually doing?

If you want a fair and honest assessment of your website, call me.
